The city is built around a town square with a beautiful classical revival style courthouse, completed in 1916. Prescott is located less than an hour’s drive from Phoenix, but it is a world away from the noise and congestion of the big city. Up here the air is cleaner, there are natural lakes, and the elevation of 5,400 feet offers a diversity of animals and plant life not found in the Salt River Valley.
